After the move to Tennessee, my pursuit slowed down a bit until I met up with Mitch and Mark. The three of us along with Logan, Marks brother, planned a weekend out to Hayti, MO to chase some waterfowl!
We arrived late Friday evening and were up at the crack of dawn on Saturday. We pulled into the field and as I opened the door of the vehicle, the cry of snow geese muffled the sound of the running engine. The birds had arrived!
We hunted 2 long days where it had rained more than it didn't. But we managed to harvest a few birds, including a banded white-fronted Goose (speckled belly). While we didn't exactly slaughter them, it was by far one of the best hunts I have ever been on with the spectacular show the snow geese had put on for us. We saw tens of thousands of them, the sky turned black, or should I say white, at times! INCREDIBLE! It was great to get that passion for waterfowl to return to me and even better to be holding the camera when I wasn't holding my gun!!
I look forward to a return trip next year and hopefully the birds will be there again to meet us! Hope you enjoy!
I have a huge passion for waterfowling. Whether it is with a gun or a camera, chasing ducks and geese all over the states is something that started at a young age with my father and snowballed into a obsession with my friends and of course my dad still joins us!
